After his loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr. earlier this year in May, it looks like Manny Pacquiao doesn’t care who he fights. He wants to get back to his winning ways no matter who his promoter Bob Arum picks out for him. Pacquiao said he’s interested in fighting Mayweather again, but don’t hold your breath waiting for that to happen. Mayweather is enjoying all that cash that he won from his fight with Pacquiao, all $300 million. It’s good to be rich!
“I will fight anybody, anywhere,” Pacquiao said via Agence France-Presse. “I am going to fight probably before the election.”
Pacquiao might be willing to fight anybody in early 2016, but his promoter Bob Arum isn’t willing to put him in with just anybody. Arum has already mentioned three of his Top Rank stable fighters – Terence Crawford, Brandon Rios, and Tim Bradley – that he could in Pacquiao in with.
The other names are Amir Khan and Juan Manuel Marquez. Top Rank has a close relationship with Marquez’s promoter Fernando Beltran in Mexico, so that’s a fight that Arum would like to really do. The odd man out is Khan, who isn’t one of Arum’s stable fighters. Poor Khan, I think he’ll be ignored by Arum and miss out on his cash out fight with Pacquiao.
“I think I’m ready (to retire). I’ve been in boxing for more than 20 years,” Pacquiao said to ABC-CBN.
