IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin will soon be defending his titles on September 10 against unbeaten and some would say totally untested Kell Brook at the O2 Arena in London, England. Some boxing fans think Golovin rates the No.1 spot in the pound-for-pound ratings. Golovkin is No.3 in Ring Magazine’s top pound-for-pound rankings behind #1 Roman Gonzalez and #2 Sergey Kovalev. The big question is will a win for GGG over Brook do enough to put him at the No.1 spot … [Read more...] about Should Golovkin be No.1 pound-for-pound fighter?
Former IBF middleweight champion David Lemieux’s manager Camille Estephan is working with HBO to see if he can make a fight between Lemieux and Curtis Stevens for October 22. When the fight was first brought up, it was considered a great idea by many of boxing fans. Right now the negotiations have ground to halt over money. Estephan is hoping that HBO can step in to save the fight to make it a reality. It would be a good match-up for either person. “Stevens wants to fight Lemieux and Lemieux … [Read more...] about Lemieux’s manager hoping to make Stevens fight
Middleweights Gabriel Rosado and Willie Monroe Jr. are short on talent, but one of them could earn a big money fight against Mexican star Saul Canelo Alvarez if they win their head to head match-up on September 17 at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Golden Boy Promotions are interested in matching the winner of this fight against Canelo in December if they don’t put the 26-year-old in with WBO middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders. Canelo will be moving up in weight to the … [Read more...] about Gabriel Rosado – Willie Monroe Jr battle for Canelo fight

The card doesn’t have a definite date yet, but Hearn says it could be in November or December in Cardiff's Principality Stadium. Pulev vs. Joshua would be the main event on the card. The constant criticism of Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (47-1-1, 33 KOs) by boxing fans for him failing to fight IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (35-0, 32 KOs) seems to have finally gotten to him after all this time, as he’s now going into the attack mode in lashing out at GGG rather than simply explaining in a logical way that he’s just not feeling up to risking his hide right now against the talented fighter from Kazakhstan. Canelo has been taking withering hits from … [Read more...] about Canelo: I fear no man!

Manny Pacquiao will be challenging WBO welterweight champion Jessie Vargas on pay-per-view on HBO, but we just don’t know which network will be carrying the fight. HBO won’t be involved in the fight, because they didn’t have a November date for the Filipino fighter’s match against Vargas. Additionally, HBO might not have been excited about the match-up, because it’s really not a PPV type of event. In the past when Pacquiao could be expected to bring in over 600,000 PPV buys even against … [Read more...] about Pacquiao-Vargas will go ahead without HBO’s involvement
